Rumours regarding an Xbox version for Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition appeared Tuesday evening, when a new listing was spotted on the ESRB ratings database, earning a Teen rating, owing to displays of mild blood, mild language, and violence. This is a big change for the real-time strategy franchise, given that AoE has been a PC exclusive for years. Naturally, both titles will be available on the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Meanwhile, the 2021-released Age of Empires 4 is slated to follow behind sometime next year. Microsoft confirmed during the franchise's 25-anniversary broadcast, held late Tuesday, that Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition will launch across Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, on January 31, 2023. Age of Empires is finally headed to (Xbox) consoles.
